Fairness. One price for everyone, displayed in the open, at every purchase size.
For generations, East African families have bought exactly what the day requires — a cup of unga here, KES 20 of oil there. That's not poverty thinking; it's smart money management. The unfairness is what it costs: sachets, repackaging and long supply chains quietly tax the smallest purchases hardest. Chota Jaza — from chota, to scoop, and jaza, to fill — exists to keep the habit and delete the penalty.
We are part of a worldwide movement to end single-use packaging, and we learn openly from the refill pioneers who came before us in Chile, South Africa and the United States — what worked for them, and what did not.
Chota Jaza was founded by Sebie Salim, a fintech entrepreneur with 25+ years building financial technology across more than 30 African markets — including Tenakata, a CBK-licensed digital lender for small businesses, and Eclectics International. Chota Jaza brings that payments, credit and technology muscle to the most everyday problem there is: the price of dinner.
Fairness. One price for everyone, displayed in the open, at every purchase size.
Transparency. Verified scales, sealed stock, traceable batches, published prices.
Dignity. Clean, bright stations and respectful service in every estate we serve.
Stewardship. No single-use plastic. Ever. It's the whole point.
